What is opinion research?

Opinion research measures how people really think and feel about a topic, issue, brand, or event, and why. Instead of a handful of loose reactions on social media or around the coffee machine, you get a representative, quantified picture of what a population or a specific target group believes, backed by numbers you can act on.

Organizations turn to opinion research for very different reasons. You might want to know how the population feels about a hot topic, in the Netherlands or in another country, or what share of your target group supports or opposes a specific decision. You might want to measure how an event changed opinion about your brand or theme, track over months or years how opinion on your sector is evolving, find out which arguments convince people most, or simply gauge the first reactions to a piece of news or announcement that just landed.

Stramigo runs opinion research among the general population, a niche target group, or a specific customer base, in the Netherlands or in any of the 80+ countries we cover. Setup, sampling, and fieldwork are handled by our platform and built-in AI, with our researchers keeping an eye on quality, so you get results, conclusions, and advice quickly instead of waiting weeks.

Because the sample is set up to reflect the population or your target group, the results hold up to scrutiny. You can share them internally, with stakeholders, or externally, and back up a decision or a public statement with real numbers instead of a hunch.

Think of questions like 'How does the Dutch population feel about a new climate measure?' or 'Is there enough public support for a change in our sector?'

What does opinion research deliver?

  • A representative picture of what the population or your target group really thinks, instead of a handful of loose reactions.
  • Solid backing for a decision, a spokesperson statement, or a press release, based on real numbers.
  • Insight into how opinion shifts over time, if you repeat the research.
  • A comparison between target groups, regions, or countries.

Stramigo has already run more than 1,600 studies for 150+ clients, the kind of experience that matters when a topic is sensitive or in the news.
